Australia Extends Post-Study Work Visa For Students

It is now possible for international students to seek employment in industries with a skills shortage after completing their studies in Australia.

“During the Jobs and Skills Summit, Jason Clare made an important announcement – we will extend work rights for international students who graduate from Australian universities in areas of verified skills shortages by two years.”

Bachelor’s degree graduates will be able to stay in Australia for four years, master’s degree holders for five years, and PhD holders for six years under a newly enacted rule.

Currently, international undergrads can stay for two years, master’s graduates for three years, and doctoral students for four years.

The government has not yet announced which degrees will be included, but nursing, engineering, and IT students are expected to be among the top priority groups.
