Canada Updates Working Guidelines for Students
Source: The Economic Times

Canadian government guidelines have been released for Indian students concerning the matter of not starting work before completing their course in a foreign country. Earlier this week, the High Commission of Canada tweeted, “you can only begin working after you have started your study program.”
Additionally, students going to Canada for the fall/winter term will have to undergo verification upon arrival. Their documents will be reviewed by a border services officer. In the official tweet, the message stated: “Be prepared to show that your DLI has allowed you to arrive late OR that you have received a deferral.”
Despite some study permits allowing you to work in Canada, you can only start working after your study program begins.
The notice was issued following the discovery of many students submitting fake documents to obtain their study visas abroad.
A recent rise in hate crimes against Indians, specifically Hindus, prompted the Indian government to issue an advisory for Indian students studying in Canada.
Indian citizens, especially students, are being asked to register on the official Indian Embassy websites to ensure the fastest contact with the government in case of an emergency, citing a sharp increase in hate crimes, sectarian violence, and anti-India activities in Canada.
Indian authorities condemned the vandalism at the recently unveiled ‘Shri Bhagavad Gita’ park in Canada’s Brampton on Sunday and urged authorities to investigate and punish the perpetrators. Patrick Brown, the mayor of Brampton, confirmed the vandalism at the park on Sunday. He said that Canada has a “zero tolerance” for such acts.
Indian students studying abroad choose Canada as one of their top choices. The New rule might change the stats according to reports.
